United are monitoring his progress closely and view him as one of the most talented young midfielders currently in the game. On Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke said King’s performances have placed him on the radar of multiple sides. “It’s not just Liverpool, there’s been talk of the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and even Barcelona looking at Josh King,” he noted. Fulham are not actively looking to sell and would prefer to keep him, particularly if they remain in a relegation battle, as he has been one of their best players. His contract runs until 2029. However, O’Rourke added that “if Manchester United or any other club wanted to make an offer, he’s going to be worth in excess of £50 million probably right now.”
King broke into the starting lineup under Marco Silva last season and has continued to stand out in the Premier League this term. He is understood to be open to a move. A January transfer appears unlikely, but a deal could be more realistic next summer.
United’s interest comes amid ongoing uncertainty around their own young midfielder JJ Gabriel. They are not alone in tracking King. Liverpool have also been linked, with reports that the Reds are keeping tabs as part of their midfield planning and could move if his form continues. Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are among the other clubs said to be watching, and European sides could present strong alternatives to staying in the Premier League.
Despite Fulham’s reluctance to lose a key player, the volume of interest and the club’s current league position mean a significant bid could test their resolve, with King potentially available for a new challenge in 2027.
